So i ended up sleeping till 4:30 today…I think I needed the rest. By the time I got up John was on his way to Wisconsin for Bristol’s opening weekend, so Gabrielle and I missed his lunchtime grillin. However, Dave Dittmann called us over for dinner and to watch the fireworks from his porch. We walked over to gain a bit of exercise time since it was so nice out, hardly any bugs and nice cool weather. It was a great time. We played Fluxx, had barbecue chicken and ribs for dinner…yum…and went to Oberweis for desert. When dusk settled we headed out to the porch with some blankets and watched the menagerie of fireworks from three different towns and of course the insanity of explosives and incendiaries that people have purchased with their stimulus checks. It was neat though, as Gabrielle, Dave and I are positive there is a “oneupmanship” contest going one between two neighbors. Some of their fireworks were pretty awesome and downright more spectacular than the village’s display. And for the record the house on the left won…they were more consistent with better fireworks with a nice timing between launches and explosions. After several drinks, Gabi and I had beer while Dave had Bahama Mammas we walked home to help work off the caloric stockpiling that just took place. All in all a great time.
So it is 5:00am and Good Samaritan just called saying, uh we don’t need you to come in. ARGH!!!….oh well, they must have discharged or transfered a large volume of patients in anticipation of Fourth of July drunks and traumas. Maybe Gabrielle and I can see what our friends are up too and try to tag along.
