So last night Gabrielle and I headed off to meet John (\/\/) at Stonefire, which turned out to be a very nice pub an restaurant out in Yorkville. John graciously treated us to dinner and drinks, mostly Hacher-Pschoor but Frangelico with coffee and a White Russian also hit the table. It was a great time and its nice just to hang out with friends…no drama…just relaxing and listening to some nice live music (just slightly eerie though how Randy one of the musicians resembles an older looking Dave Zelinski).
As I haven’t posted in awhile let me give a brief update on things. Lately my time has been occupied cleaning the garage and by the Gods I have actually made progress. I’m hoping in a few days to have enough space cleared to tear out some of the walls and run new outlets to aid in my vision of a garage workshop. I think once I have a small workshop set up then remodeling the house should be a bit easier. I have actually made enough progress you can walk through the garage without bumping into anything ***It’s A Miracle***.
Other than working on the garage, Gabrielle and I have been trying to remain deligent on maintaining the yard and having hired the neighborhood kid to mow and do odd yardwork has proved useful. I remember in my younger years going about the neighborhood asking if I could mow the lawn for a few bucks. So it’s nice to see that the tradition hasn’t faded in the world of “giveme giveme giveme but I don’t want to work for it” attitudes.
About three days ago John came over and Gabrielle and I help him to pick out a new A/C unit. We ended up going to about three stores until he decided on a stand alone floor model. It seems to work fine, but John has said that the noise it makes (not louder just different than he is used to) will take some adjusting to. John has also said that he wishes the exhaust hose was longer. I think with some ingenuity we could add some length to move the unit a bit farther from his room so he can get some sleep.
I’ve got more to tell, but have to run now to do some chores. I’ll write soon with a funny (at least I think so) mistake I caught in an emergency room chart of one of my patients.
ttfn,
Karl
So most of today was unproductive other than doing the dishes and getting dinner for Gabi. Our favorite Chinese restaurant had moved or gone out of business and so we have been without our Asian food fix for awhile. Something today said, all right kilted get your butt out there and find a new Chinese place to try. So I found one, interestingly enough it is next to a sushi place we used to love to go to until it changed management…sigh…just can’t keep good Asian food in Carol Stream. Now the funny thing is when Gabrielle called me to find out if she needed to pick up anything on the way back from work, she was thinking of suggesting Chinese food for dinner…humm…scary how Gabrielle and I can connect at times. I bought a small assortment and the food wasn’t too bad, so I think we’ll end up trying them again. After Gabrielle came home we scarfed down chow and watched an episode of Cadfael (http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/mystery/programs/cadfael/) one of our favorite shows. I’m not sure what it was that caused me to do it, as I’m often the procrastinator of the family, but after the show I turned off the television and asked Gabrielle to help me in the yard. We mowed the lawn, pulled weeds, stacked firewood and generally got a lot done in the yard. Darkness was starting to fall and so we packed it in for the night, however, we discovered we didn’t have any village stickers for yard waste, so we made a pilgrimage to Jewel to pick up some and to replenish consumables.
After all that we came home and went plop. After a delicious dessert of fresh cherries, plain yogurt with honey and walnuts, I decided it was time to work on the website again. Naturally it is now very late but once I get started on something it is hard for me to stop. I ended up making a new banner logo for the photogallery (http://www.kiltedbehemoth.net/gallery2/main.php). It isn’t exactly what I wanted but it will work for now. It’s gonna take me some time and some trickery with Photoshop to create the image that I want displayed where the sunset picture is now.
I think its time for bed…so nite all and talk to you soon.
